A weekend away

Twice before we ended cancelling our planned trip to visit Jo in Sarina (near Mackay) but this time we made it.

After a morning of preparations and getting or stuff packed, we left at 1315 for the long drive North. Somewhere around Gin Gin, we lost the passengers side mirror off the van but besides that the trip went well.
We caught up with Jo and her new flame Pete and some of their friends.

It wouldn't surprise anyone that our time off of course meant rain. Cyclone Ita hit North qld and cancelled the camping and water skiing plans.

On Sunday afternoon we started the drive back. Originally the plan was a seaside stop but it was so wet everywhere that we just drove all the way home instead.
The most exciting event of the drive was when "something" suddenly dropped from the air on Peter and he screamed. Apparently it felt alive and slippery so Peter thought it was a snake.
I quickly pulled over the van and madly dashed for a torch while Pete sat deadly still afraid to move. After some investigation the culprit was found sitting next to Peter. It was a medium sized cute Green tree frog. After releasing it into the wet green grass we safely continued or trip. It makes you wonder how and when or hitchhiker boarded the van :-)
